Most players blame teammates for being stuck — but the fastest way up the ladder is to focus on the few things you fully control. Here's what actually moves your rank.
1. Shrink your champion pool
Two or three champions per role, mastered, beats ten played casually. A small pool means you already know your power spikes, item builds and matchups instead of relearning them every game.
2. Play for win conditions, not kills
Climbing is about closing out games. Track objectives — drakes, grubs, towers — and ask before every fight: does winning this fight get us closer to ending the game? If not, don't take it.
3. Fix your mentality
- Mute and move on — tilt costs more LP than any single bad teammate.
- Play in short sessions; stop after two losses in a row.
- Review one replay per session and find the single worst decision you made.
When a boost makes sense
If you're hard-stuck below your true skill level — for example, placed low after a break — a division boost can reset you to where you actually belong, and a coaching session can show you exactly what was holding you back.
